Biography
Kathy Barba received her degree in Vocal Performance from CSU, Fresno in 1979.  She then moved to the San Francisco Bay area to continue her studies.   She frequently performed with the West Bay Opera, Berkeley Opera, and San Rafael Opera companies.  Her roles included Queen of the Night from Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”,  and Adina in Donizetti’s “The Elixir of Love”.   Ms. Barba appeared twice in 2007 as soprano soloist with the Fresno Philharmonic under the baton of Theodore Kuchar, most recently in its performance of Anton Bruckner’s “Te Deum”.  She is an award winner of the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, and has performed many solo recitals in the Central Valley.  She has sung as a concert soloist with various groups in the Fresno area including Fresno Community Concert Band and Fresno Choral Artists. 

Kathy has taught voice privately for 24 years and has been a vocal instructor at Fresno City College since 2001. She currently serves as President of the Sierra Chamber Opera Board of Directors and has been a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing since 1999.

The majority of Kathy's repertoire is in the Classical genre, but she also enjoys teaching basic vocal technique and repertoire to Musical Theater singers, and has worked rehabilitating damaged voices.  She teaches and coaches voice to all age groups, provided they are motivated and willing to work.
